The Iowa Hawkeyes are a college football team that plays in NCAA Division 1. This team plays in one of the top conferences in college football. They play in the Big Ten, which is home to many of the best teams in the country every year. This has created some tough competition for the Hawkeyes over the years, but they have performed very well.

The team has won a total of 581 games in its history. They lost 512 games this semester. These numbers are closely related to his 39 draws. Putting these statistics together gives the team an all-time winning percentage of.530.

This winning tradition earned them 24 postseason bowl games. These bowl games pit the best teams in all areas of football against each other. Despite playing against the best team in the country, the Hawkeyes were able to win 13 of 24 games. They lost 10 games and tied the rest. This represents a solid winning percentage and shows they can play against many of the best teams in the country.

The team is currently coached by Kirk Ferentz. Ferentz was an outstanding coach for the team, leading the team to a better record than the team had seen in its history prior to his tenure. Since joining the team 12 years ago, he has led the team to an 82-55 record.

They won 12 conference titles in university history. These amazing 12 seasons also include the ultimate successful season of winning the National Championship.

The team's national championship was held in 1958. This season, the team was coached by Forrest Evaszewski. The team finished the season as the second-ranked team in the country behind LSU. LSU had a magical season in 1958, and he had an 11-0 record at season's end. Iowa went on to play in the Rose Bowl and won easily. We were able to win the match 38-12. During this game, they managed to set or tie several Rose Bowl records. Although they did not become national champions that season, they did manage to win the Football Writers Association of America Award.

Although now they are not recognized as a prestigious organization, at the time they were one of the most respected organizations for awarding national championships. This allowed the team to win the Grantland Rice Award, a trophy presented by the Football Writers Association of America.

The team continues to be a stalwart force in the NCAA. They aren't always favorites, but they are a team that could be a second choice for a major bowl game and may even compete for a championship every few years.
