Generosity And Philanthropy Highlights 2017: Holy Family University Annual Review

Holy Family University has had many successes throughout 2017 as the world seeks good news to share. Universities saw increases in academic services, student performance, faculty research, campus renovations, and more. Enjoy your favorite highlights all year round. Holy Family University receives a $350,000 gift from early alumni. 

Holy Family University has received a gift of real estate from alumnus Marianne Crisham Harrington for the School of Education. In her tribute to her husband, Mrs. Harrington decided to donate her Long Beach, New York, property to Holy Family on December 8, 2017, the anniversary of her late husband's funeral. The bequest, estimated at $350,000, is one of the largest single gifts ever received by the Holy Family in its 63-year history.

Holy Family University donates 5,000 cans of food to Puerto Rico relief efforts. 

Members of Holly Her family, the university, and the local community contributed to a food drive to help the people of Puerto Rico, still reeling from the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Humanitarian assistance is coordinated by Sister Mary Ellen Gemmell, CSFN, former president and Spanish teacher of Academia del Carmen in Carolina, Puerto Rico, and Academia del Perpetuo Socorro in Miramar, Puerto Rico. Donations will be made to the organization, Caritas de Puerto Rico. The aid organization will hand it over to the needy in the area. A total of approximately 5,000 kilograms of food and approximately 5,000 cans will be delivered on six pallets. Tuesday's act of generosity raised $27,000 in donations. 

On Tuesday, November 28, Holy Family University participated for the first time in Giving Tuesday, a national and international movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the entire Holy Family community (alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff, and students) for helping us successfully complete our Dedication Tuesday challenge. We met and exceeded our Giving Tuesday goal by raising $17,725 and qualifying for a $10,000 matching donation ($27,725 total).

Introducing an online doctoral course to the Faculty of Business Administration

The School of Business Administration has announced its newest program offering, an 18-course fully online Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree. The program is scheduled to begin in fall 2018, run for eight weeks, and take three years to complete. DBAs initially focus on both general and accounting and require an MBA or other business-related degree, but do not require a residency. Holy Family University Announces a Doctor of Nursing Practice Program

The School of Nursing and Allied Health Professions at Holy Family University has announced a new Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program beginning in the fall 2017 semester. This offering complements the School of Nursing's already popular bachelor's, master's, and second degree programs. All courses are taught on the campus of Holy Family University in Newtown, Pennsylvania.

Holy Family University introduces a psychology program. 

To continue offering the best programs to students, Holy Family University has announced its newest program, the PsyD in Counseling Psychology. This is the first doctoral program offered through the College of Arts and Sciences. The program is also the first mental health counseling program offered in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. All courses are offered at Holy Family University in Newtown, Pennsylvania.

Holy Family University ranks as one of the top schools in Pennsylvania for future prospects.

The U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard ranked Holy Family College as her 27th-best college in Pennsylvania for earning potential. This is Holy Family's second honor this year, after Money Magazine named the university the 196th best university in 2017–18.

Money's List ranks 711 of the best universities in the United States based on quality of education, affordability, and alumni success. Sister Marcela Louise Walowich receives a grant to study employee productivity. 

Sister Marcella Louise Wallowitz, CSFN, Ph.D., associate dean and associate professor of mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences, is made possible through the generosity of the Henry Luce Foundation's Clare Booth Luce (CBL) Program. received a competitive summer research fellowship. Women in science, mathematics, computer science, and engineering.

Lily Carroll receives a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. 

Dr. Elizabeth Lilly Carroll, assistant professor of biology in the College of Arts and Sciences, enlisted Penn State Conservation to help purchase the equipment needed to study the regional ecology around Holy Family University with her students. I received a grant from the Bureau.
