Is there a company that comes to mind when you hear the word "GPS navigation"? Garmin.com/express. This company was founded in 1989. Garmin adopted the names Gar from Gary Burrell and Min from Min Kao. These two engineers looked at marine, aviation, and consumer technologies and decided to integrate them into his civilian Garmin GPS navigation system.

Jacques Moore used his experience as a pilot to research easier ways for pilots to communicate and fly. Min Kao had extensive experience in developing military navigation systems. The two combined their knowledge to develop his GPS receiver, the world's first for U.S. aviation.

Their first product, the GPS Hundred, was exhibited at the Chicago Marine Exhibition in 1990 and sold for $2,500 each. Their receivers were also used extensively in the 1991 Gulf War.

As these products became more popular in defense installations around the world, he decided to look into his options for sports-related GPS devices. These tracking devices were aimed at hikers, cyclists, and racers. You may know these devices as his Garmin predecessors.

If you're a driver, you may have used the StreetPilot GPS navigation system. Not only do we have no hesitation, we also offer a wide range of automotive series.

Due to the popularity of the receiver, Garmin decided to switch to a GPS navigation device that allows for easy navigation. These navigators can be found in three formats: i3, i5, and i2.

The Garmin i2 GPS navigation device is the simplest of the series, with only a monochrome display. Transflash maps are required to load maps on this navigation device. The i3 differs from the i2 in that it has an additional color screen. The i5 is relatively complex among the GPS navigation devices in this series, as it comes with maps already pre-installed. Also, check out the StreetPilot C series. These navigation devices offer just about everything, from FM notifications to color touchscreens, weather information, and even Bluetooth support.

Garmin's Nuvi series of GPS navigation devices was launched in 2006 and was an instant hit. Pocket-sized, widescreen navigation. It comes with an FM transmitter. The 660 model also has Bluetooth and a brighter screen. If you own a motorcycle, check out his Zumo line, made for all the weekend bikers. BMV has already started offering the Navigator 3 for its bike models.

Additionally, Garmin has developed another GPS navigation system made specifically for laptops. If you have a Microsoft operating system (Windows) installed on your laptop, you can easily load this special tracking and navigation system. All Garmin GPS navigation devices can pinpoint your exact location on pre-installed maps. These maps are included in the built-in memory (base maps) and display all major cities. You can also purchase maritime, topographic, and road maps for your navigation device from Garmin.
